The Heart Sutra 般若波罗蜜多心经
Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva,
观自在菩萨，
when practicing deeply the Prajna Paramita,
行深般若波罗蜜多时，
clearly saw that all five skandhas are empty,
照见五蕴皆空，
and thus relieved all suffering.
度一切苦厄。
Shariputra, form is no other than emptiness,
舍利子，色不异空，
emptiness no other than form.
空不异色；
Form is exactly emptiness,
色即是空，
emptiness exactly form.
空即是色。
Sensation, perception, formation, and consciousness are also like this.
受想行识，亦复如是。
Shariputra, all dharmas are empty of characteristics.
舍利子，是诸法空相，
They are not born or destroyed,
不生不灭，
not impure or pure,
不垢不净，
not increasing or decreasing.
不增不减。
Therefore, in emptiness there is no form,
是故空中无色，
no sensation, perception, formation, or consciousness;
无受想行识；
no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind;
无眼耳鼻舌身意；
no sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, or object of mind;
无色声香味触法；
no realm of sight,
无眼界，
no realm of consciousness;
乃至无意识界；
no ignorance and also no ending of ignorance,
无无明，亦无无明尽，
and so on up to no old age and death,
乃至无老死，
and also no ending of old age and death.
亦无老死尽。
No suffering, origin of suffering, cessation, or path;
无苦集灭道；
no wisdom and no attainment.
无智亦无得。
Because nothing is attained,
以无所得故，
the Bodhisattva relies on Prajna Paramita,
菩提萨埵，依般若波罗蜜多故，
and the mind is no hindrance.
心无罣碍；
Without hindrance, there is no fear.
无罣碍故，无有恐怖，
Far beyond all inverted views,
远离颠倒梦想，
one realizes Nirvana.
究竟涅槃。
All Buddhas of past, present, and future
三世诸佛，
rely on Prajna Paramita
依般若波罗蜜多故，
and attain Anuttara-samyak-sambodhi.
得阿耨多罗三藐三菩提。
Therefore, know that Prajna Paramita
故知般若波罗蜜多，
is the great miraculous mantra,
是大神咒，
the great bright mantra,
是大明咒，
the supreme mantra,
是无上咒，
the incomparable mantra,
是无等等咒，
which removes all suffering,
能除一切苦，
and is true, not false.
真实不虚。
Therefore, speak the Prajna Paramita mantra.
故说般若波罗蜜多咒。
The mantra is:

Gate Gate Paragate Parasamgate Bodhi Svaha.
